I have never seen Historic Downtown Manassas so busy at night with visitors. On Friday, November 6th, 2015, Historic Downtown Manassas sponsored their free 18th Annual Gallery Walk, from 6-9 pm.
It’s great how Old Town Manassas, Virginia is combining its historical roots with the arts. The City’s efforts put Manassas on the map with other local historical and artsy towns like Old Town Alexandria, Virginia and Georgetown in Washington, DC.
The first establishment we came across in the City of Manassas was the Center Street Gourmet Wine and Cheese Shop. This shop was hosting two authors, an artist and musicians. It was hopping with fun!
There was a musical couple, one playing the guitar and one singing, which added a great deal to the festive atmosphere.
Manassas, Virginia resident and author Belinda Miller introduced her latest book, Phillip’s Quest – Book III: Across the Elusive Sea, from her seven book fantasy series for middle grade readers.
She offered beautiful holiday packages which included the first three books of her Phillip’s Quest series as well as Phillip’s Quest themed decorations, bookmarks and story character dolls.
She also displayed her trilogy fantasy book series for advanced elementary school readers titled The Ragwort Chronicles.
Local Painter, Sally Harrison was displaying a variety of her watercolor paintings, while knitting. While walking down Center Street through Manassas during the 18th Annual Gallery Walk, it was easy to see that creative people are often multi-talented and engaged in many artistic endeavors at once. Miller, Rook and Harrison were no exception.
Many of the shops along both sides of Center Street hosted local artists’ work. The Man Cave had an art display as well, and this event provided the opportunity to walk into the Man Cave (without feeling out-of-place) to see what it was all about. It had an interesting and unique atmosphere. You’ve got to check it out the next time you are in Old Town Manassas.
It’s really exciting to watch the growth and rejuvenation of Historical Downtown Manassas, Virginia. It’s really becoming one of the best small American towns in the USA. To the City of Manassas, keep up the good work. To everyone else, if you are in the area, check it out!
